#WhoREALLYGotPlagiarism? The Real Origin Behind ‘#WhoGotNext?’

Awhile back, we reported a minor plagiarism scandal in Brooklyn. Particularly concerning Flatbush rapper, Casanova (@casanova_2x on Instagram).

Be sure to refresh your memory and check that post out here.

As it turns out, there is more to this story.

Casanova was jokingly accused of jacking the title of the event series, ‘Who Got Next’, from the Brooklyn-based community for NYC creatives, SummatimeNYC. We briefly spoke about Casanova’s ‘Who Got Next’ project, mentioning that it appeared to be for the purpose of propelling upcoming rappers.

A few days after we broke the story, Rah Righteous (@rahrighteous on instagram), the emerging rapper from Bed-Stuy and featured artist at SummatimeNYC’s March 11th ‘Who Got Next’ event, was hit up by East New York’s rap legend, Uncle Murda (@unclemurda on Instagram) to be featured on his latest mixtape project, also entitled ‘Who Got Next’.

Upon further investigation (and a quick search on DatPiff.com), we discovered both Casanova and Uncle Murda’s mixtapes to be part of a mixtape series presented by a variety of different Hip Hop artists, all going by the same title, ‘Who Got Next’. The mixtape series dates as far back as 2018 and has been presented by artists like Jadakiss, Juelz Santana, & Kirko Bangz.

Call us biased, but we’ll consider this a “great minds think alike” situation.

Casanova, looks like YOU GETS A BEV after all... and a BIG BEV goes out to Rah Righteous for being asked to be a part of this amazing opportunity for upcoming rappers in the industry.
